 Greenhouse Construction

Guatemala has the highest chronic malnutrition rate in Latin America and the fourth highest in the world. Nearly 50% of Guatemalan children under 5 are malnourished. Chronic malnutrition in the Western Highlands can be as high as 69.5%. Guatemala is one of the 36 countries which account for 90% of stunting in the world. This malnutrition not only stunts their physical growth but cognitive and physiological growth as well, reducing their productivity as an adult by roughly a third. Fifty-three percent of the Guatemalan population lives in poverty, and 13% in extreme poverty.

Global Business Solutions Institute has partnered with local municipalities in working to permanently alleviate malnutrition through agricultural projects (micro greenhouses, small holder gardens, etc.) that produce sustainable food sources. However, without you the work does not get done...you will be working alongside villagers to create sustainable agricultural systems.  The villagers themselves invests in the projects through helping in the construction and subsequent growing of family gardens.
